- Supervise and guide paving crew members, assign tasks, and provide on-the-job training.
- Schedule crew shifts and track employee hours.
- Motivate the team, address issues, and promote a positive and productive work environment.
- Enforce adherence to safety protocols, regulations, and company standards.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to understand project plans, specifications, and timelines.
- Coordinate equipment needs, material deliveries, and logistics.
- Oversee site preparation, grading, and laying of asphalt.
- Ensure the work meets quality standards and client expectations.
- Troubleshoot issues and implement solutions as they arise.
- Communicate effectively with Project Managers, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide regular progress updates and maintain project documentation.
- Identify and report potential delays or cost overruns.
- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of heavy machinery and equipment.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a paving or asphalt crew, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
- In-depth understanding of paving and asphalt techniques, materials, safety standards, and relevant regulations.
- Proven ability to supervise, motivate, and train a team.
- Ability to identify problems, analyze situations, and implement solutions effectively, often under time pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Skilled in managing multiple tasks, time, and resources to meet deadlines.
- Strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, perform physical tasks, and operate heavy machinery.
- A clean driving record is required.
